Limbang District Landscape Master Plan, Sarawak

Limbang District Council Landscape Master Plan is the main reference document produced by the National Landscape Department to prepare a comprehensive Planning Document and Guidelines within the next fifteen (15) years. It will be implemented taking into account the emphasis on greening and well-being as well as the conducive environment in Limbang District. This document will be adopted by Limbang District Council (MDL) as a guide, control and enforcement of landscape development in the MDL area.

The Limbang District Landscape Master Plan Study is divided into several stages, namely Preliminary Report, Technical Report, Concept Report, Final Draft Report, Final Report of Landscape Master Plan and Executive Summary where all reports cover all aspects of the landscape physically involving development planning, management and landscape maintenance.

The location of the Limbang Division is located in the Northeast of Sarawak bordering Brunei in the West, the Gulf of Brunei in the North, Sabah/Kalimantan in the East and the Baram District ( Miri Division) in the South, in the heart of the Temburong District (Country of Brunei) which makes the Limbang Division in the middle. Limbang is the 5th division among the 12 divisions in Sarawak. The Limbang Division comprises two districts, namely Limbang District and Lawas District as well as three small districts of Nanga Medamit, Sundar and Trusan with an area of 7,790 km/square. Location analysis and evaluation includes existing factors and landscape character assessment (LCA) factors. Existing factors are physical factors, land use, urban design, typology, infrastructure, open space and others.

Based on the research and analysis done at the Technical Report stage, the overall selection of the concept of the Agricultural and Cultural Heritage Gateway of the Limbang / Gateway to Agriculture Heritage of Limbangness is seen as appropriate and in line with the character to be highlighted. The concept will be realised according to the development criteria through the Gate, Cultural Cultural Heritage and Agro Heritage City. By applying this concept, it can indirectly enhance heritage values as well as strengthening the local identity and displaying its own identity in Limbang District.

This report is a semi-legal and comprehensive document which has complied with all the principles and thrusts of the National Landscape Policy towards the National Vision of Malaysia the Most Beautiful Park. The planning of a holistic landscape master plan can drive Limbang District towards the achievement of a quality and comprehensive living environment as well as strengthening the unique landscape and culture identity of the Limbang people today and future. It is also consistent with the MDL mission which is 'Limbang District Council Committed to Provide Efficient Municipal Services and Infrastructure to Improve the Quality of Life of the Community'.

Thank you to the Limbang District Council especially Mayor Kr. Sufian Bin Mohat and other committee members for fully cooperating with JLN in the success of the Limbang District Council Landscape Master Plan. Not forgetting the Director General of JLN Hjh. Rotina Binti Mohd Daik and Director of Landscape Development Division En. Mohd Salleh Bin Mahmood and the officers involved, En. Wan Fakaruddin bin Wan Ab. Aziz, En. Mohd Radzi bin Raba'ee, Mrs. Mazliyani Binti Mazlan and Mrs. Norsidah binti Mohamad. Not to mention the Urbanscape consultant led by LAr. Rozita binti Abdul Hamid and Lee Chee Wee as committed consultants and played a role in producing the Limbang District Council Master Plan.
